Mediastinum

The region between the two pleural cavities.

Pericardium

Fibrous membrane that surrounds the heart area. Outer layer of the heart.

Myocardium

Thickest layer composed of cardiac muscle. Middle layer of the heart.

Endocardium

Inner lining of the heart.

Right Atrium

Receives blood from the veins of the body.

Right Ventricle

Receives blood from the right atrium. Pumps blood to the pulmonary arteries.

Tricuspid Valve

Separates the right atrium and right ventricle.

Pulmonary Valve

Separates the right ventricle and pulmonary trunk.

Left Atrium

Receives blood from the pulmonary veins - oxygen-rich blood.

Left Ventricle

Receives blood from the left atrium, pumps blood to the Aorta.

Bicuspid Valve

Separates left atrium and left ventricle.

Aortic Valve

Separates left ventricle and the Aorta.

Foramen Ovale

Connects two atria and allows blood to enter right side, bypassing the lungs (Fetal Heart).
